Statement of Faith

Let me beg you, not to rest contented with the commonplace religion that is now so prevalent.

The Scriptures

We believe that the Holy Bible, consisting of sixty-six books of the Old and New Testament Scriptures, which is forever settled in Heaven and is a perfect treasure of Heavenly instruction. God then spoke to holy men of old, and they wrote each word exactly as God spoke them. It has God for its Author, salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture of error for its matter. It reveals the principles by which God will judge us; and therefore is, and shall remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions should be tried. Because there can only be one Word of God in any language, the King James Version in the English language & the Old Judson Translation in the Burmese language, each being translations of the Masoretic Text of the Old Testament & the Textus Receptus or “Received Text” of the New Testament, will be the only acceptable standard for our religious instruction, faith, and practice. (II Timothy 3:16, 17; II Peter 1:21; II Samuel 23:2; Acts 1:16; Acts 3:21; John 10:35; Luke 16:29-31; Proverbs 30:5, 6; John 17:17; Revelation 22:18; Romans 3:4; 2:12; John 12:47, 48)

The True God

We believe the Scriptures teach that there is one, and only one, living and true God, an infinite, intelligent Spirit, Whose name is Jehovah, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of Heaven and earth; inexpressibly glorious in holiness, and worthy of all honor, confidence, and love; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three persons — the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; equal in every divine perfection, and executing distinct, harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. (John 4:24; Psalm 83:18; 147:5; Romans 1:20; Jeremiah 10:10; Exodus 15:11; Revelation 4:6-8, 11; Mark 12:30; Ephesians 2:18)

The Person of Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is both the Son of God and God the Son. He became a man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man. (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6; Matt. 1:23; John1:1-2, 14; Phil. 2:5-8)

Salvation

We believe that salvation from sin and hell is brought us by grace through faith in the shed blood of Christ on Calvary, His burial, and his bodily resurrection on the third day. Salvation is extended to all. Salvation is a choice every person must make for himself. It is not our works but the finished work of Christ. (John 1:12; Rom. 10:9-13; Eph. 2:8-10; I Peter 1:18-19)

Eternal Security

We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever. (John 6:37-40, 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1, 38-39; I Cor. 1:4-8; Eph. 1:13)

The Local Church

We believe that the local church, the body and espoused bride of Christ, is solely made up of born-again, Scripturally-baptized people. Its officers are pastors and deacons, whose qualifications, claims, and duties are defined in the Epistles of Timothy and Titus. We believe women are a gift and a blessing to the family of the church and are equal with men in many areas but should not occupy the office of pastor. We believe the true mission of the church is the faithful witnessing of Christ to all men and the edifying of the saints. We hold that the local church has the absolute right of self-government free from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations; and that the one and only head is Christ through the Holy Spirit. There is no such thing in Scripture as a universal church. (Acts 2:41; Matthew 28:20; John 14:15; 15:10; I Cor. 12:12-14; II Cor. 11:2; Eph. 1:22-23, 5:25-27)

The Return of Christ

We believe in the bodily, personal, pre-millennial return of Christ to catch away all believers, to judge the living nations, and to set up His kingdom on earth. (I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Matthew 25:21-46; Revelation 19:11-21)

Separation

We believe that modernism, liberalism, “social gospel,” and any other gospel than the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, are not of God, but are of Antichrist. We as believers should have no fellowship with such unfruitful works of darkness. We are called to separate from all churches, groups, organizations, and individuals that sanction such doctrines. We believe the Ecumenism for the sake of unity is not based on Biblical truth. (II Corinthians 6:14-18; II Peter 2:1,2; I John 2:22; Revelation 18:4,5; Acts 19:8-10; Romans 16:17,18; Galatians 1:8-10)

We believe that all believers should walk in such a manner as not to bring reproach upon our Lord and Savior and that separation from worldly pleasures and practices is commanded of God. (Romans 12:1,2; 14:13; II Corinthians 6:14-17:1; I John 2:15-17)
